2008 Challenges and Thanksgiving
In January of 2008 I had a routine physical "wellness exam" and chest x-ray. My doctor wanted a chest x-ray because I had not had one in many years and because I was 50 years old. The x-ray showed an area "that needed further evaluation" and they scheduled a CT Scan.
The CT Scan confirmed that a "mass" was attached too/near my thyroid and pressing on my windpipe. After several more tests and a fine needle biopsy (which was negative for cancer cells!) I was scheduled for a total thyroidectomy to remove my thyroid and the mass.
The lab results following surgery were benign for cancer cells! The surgeon said it was a miracle my vocal cords were not damaged because the mass was wrapped around them.
Our family is so thankful for the many blessings received in 2008!
